Yannick Pouliot

Yannick Pouliot recently burst onto the art scene and immediately earned critical acclaim for the originality of his work. Using various media, notably sculpture, photography and sound, he assigns a leading role to architecture and furnishings in order to create environments that enfold and isolate the visitor. “The isolation (or alienation) of contemporary society is echoed in disjointed settings and in furniture closed in on itself, precluding any possibility of normal use, and afflicted with excrescences, forced linkages and disarticulations”, writes Lanctôt. Pouliot’s installations confront us with society and its decadence through a spellbinding visual, emotional and kinesthetic experience. A surprising contributor to this first monograph is Pierre Lapointe, one of Québec’s most acclaimed young singer songwriters.
