La Question de l’abstraction

Founded in 1964, Montréal’s Musée d’art contemporain was the first major Canadian institution to champion contemporary art. Now the museum celebrates its inestimable collection with this encyclopedic review of art, artists and art movements from the 1940s to 2010. A vast panorama of 110 works by 60 artists over seven decades is magnificently illustrated and discussed with both original essays by leading scholars and with rare archival texts written in the heat of the debates on the question of abstraction in Canada, particularly in Québec.
