The installation presented is a mural made with self-adhesive vinyl reproducing a comic strip designed by Scott for the MAC at Place Ville Marie. Open Ended / Painted Shut features Wendy at a loss for inspiration and obsessed with her artist’s block throughout a long, story-free day that ends with a well-lubricated evening and a false hope. The work continues Scott’s reflection on the figure of the artist, here underlining the anxiety caused by the pressure to produce.
Walter Scott is a Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) interdisciplinary artist who works in comics, drawing, video, performance, and sculpture.
